Eggs Available Late Summer: Calvin’s Farm Learns from Bobcats and New Beginnings

Hey there, farm fans! It’s Calvin, your favorite 7-year-old farmer from Flower Mound, TX. Running a farm is full of surprises—some good, some… well, let’s just say “wild.” Today, I’ve got some egg-citing updates, even though there are no eggs at the moment. Stick around because this is a story about new beginnings, unexpected visitors, and lessons learned from Mother Nature herself.

The Tale of the Great Bobcat Buffet

So, here’s the thing: our old chickens had a bit of an adventure. And by “adventure,” I mean they became dinner for a very lucky (and very hungry) bobcat. Don’t worry, I’m not mad. In fact, I like to think of it as us doing our part to help the local wildlife thrive. You’re welcome, Mr. Bobcat.

But we’ve learned something important—farms aren’t just for us humans. They’re also a buffet for every furry (or feathered) critter within a mile. Lesson learned: better fencing and maybe a scarecrow that doubles as a bobcat bodyguard are coming soon.

Chickens 4.0: Coming This Spring

Good news! We’re getting new chicks in late spring! These little peepers will be fluffier, cuter, and (hopefully) better at staying inside the coop. We’re planning to give them the VIP treatment—better security, more snacks, and maybe even a little chicken spa (okay, just kidding on that last part… maybe).

By the time they grow up and start laying eggs, it’ll be late summer at the earliest. So, if you’re craving farm-fresh eggs, hang tight—they’ll be worth the wait.

What We Learned About Wildlife

Here’s a fun fact: Flower Mound has more wildlife than you think! From bobcats to hawks, everyone’s got their eye on the farm. It’s like our backyard turned into an episode of Animal Planet.

While we’re a little sad about the chickens, it’s been cool to see how nature works. Farming isn’t always easy, but it’s always an adventure.

Stay Tuned for Updates

We’ll keep you posted on the new chicks, farm updates, and all the exciting things happening around here as we prepare for eggs to be back later this summer. Stay tuned!

Thank you for following along with our journey. Farming is about more than just eggs or crops—it’s about adapting, learning, and embracing every challenge that comes our way. There’s always something happening here at Calvin’s Farm!

See you soon,
Calvin
